About the Film:

She Started It is a feature length documentary film on women tech entrepreneurs, shot on location in Silicon Valley, NYC, Europe, Vietnam, Mississippi & more, that aims to highlight successful role models for young women. It is the world`s first film to show the behind the scenes of running a tech start-up as a young woman. Along the way, it weaves in big-picture perspectives from women like star investor Joanne Wilson ; White House CTO Megan Smith; GoldieBlox CEO Debbie Sterling; Ruchi Sanghvi, the first female engineer at Facebook and many others. Through intimate, action-driven storytelling, She Started It explores the cultural roots of female underrepresentation in entrepreneurship - including pervasive self-doubt, fear of failure, and risk aversion among young women. It exposes, too, the structural realities women face as they become entrepreneurs, including lack of female role models and investors, and the persistent dearth of venture capital funding made available to women-led companies.

About the Speakers:

Nora Poggi - Nora is a French journalist/filmmaker directing her debut film on women tech entrepreneurs, She Started It, which premieres at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October 2016. She has interviewed key players in Silicon Valley for the past four years for publications includingExaminer.com & Usine Nouvelle. She previously worked at French social network Viadeo.com and award-winning production company Lucky Dragon Productions. She is a TEDx speaker and and has been featured inInc. Magazine, Forbes, Fast Company, Glamour, HuffPost and many others.

Larissa Hämisegger - Larissa founded Unumondo, a language coaching and integration service, where internationals learn the local language applied in real life with a local instead of in the classroom with books. She is fluent in five languages herself and understands a couple more. Larissa is also a Yoga and Meditation instructor and introduces such practices into workspaces as she sees great importance in bridging personal wellbeing, mindfulness and business .
