Our relationships with our fellow humans satisfy our human need of being a social animal and manifest new societal structures & cultures. Through collective participation in the chosen communities, we re-shape our individual lives.

The current times have permitted us to evolve the role and structure of communities further. In this MQ idea-sharing salon, we will discuss with Johanna (from Impact Hub) and Martin (from ZurichRetreat) various questions like Why do communities exist? What is the impact of community in our individual lives and broader society? How might the community structure evolve in the future? In the end, we will do a short workshop with our guest experts.

Johanna Scheurer has a background in design strategy, branding, and trend and now brings in her experience of community building to the Impact Hub Zurich. She is passionate about collaborative approaches and loves participative happenings. Growing up in a big patchwork family (8 siblings), she was inspired by the spirit of communities since very early in her life.

Martin Hohn has a background in international hospitality management but changed tracks after a burnout, which lead him to reinvent his life in a more holistic and purpose-driven way and since three years founding of the ZurichRetreat project. He has lived and visited many different forms of communities and related projects all over the world from eco-villages, ashrams to burning man.
