Kosmopolitics Returns

A Conversation Series for the Questions of Our Time

Zurich, 24 July 2026 – This September, Kosmopolitics returns. Hosted by Impact Hub Zurich, the series creates a space for public conversations about the issues shaping our society – open, constructive, and welcoming of diverse perspectives.

At a time when many discussions take place online, where people often talk about one another rather than with one another, and where public debate is increasingly driven by polarisation, Kosmopolitics offers something different: in-person encounters and conversations that are not about convincing others or winning arguments, but about listening, understanding, and learning from one another.

The series brings together voices from academia, business, culture, politics, and civil society. It explores the questions shaping our future – from artificial intelligence and democracy to the way we live together, work, and respond to climate change. Kosmopolitics is built around active dialogue and meaningful audience participation. While the discussions focus on Zurich and Switzerland, they also connect local issues with wider global developments.

“Societal challenges rarely have simple answers. That is why it is so important to create spaces where different perspectives can meet and meaningful conversations can take place,” says Magdalena Auer, Co-Project Lead.

Kosmopolitics was originally launched at Zurich’s Kulturhaus Kosmos and is now being continued by Impact Hub Zurich. This new edition builds on the original vision of an open platform for dialogue while adapting it to the societal challenges of today.

The series will launch with a pilot programme in September, featuring several events through early 2027. The long-term goal is to establish Kosmopolitics as a permanent platform for civic dialogue in Zurich. Topics and guest speakers will be announced on an ongoing basis.
