Registrations for the CLIMATHON ZURICH 2021 are open!

During the 24-hour Climate-Hackathon on October 29 & 30 at Kraftwerk Zürich, you will work on solutions for one of the three climate challenges provided by the Stadt Zürich:

Challenge 1: Fostering sustainable consumption
Our daily lives and consumption patterns are not on a level with the planetary boundaries and earth’s long-term capacities. Even though we know the facts, we often do not make sustainable (consumption) choices; be it because there is no sustainable option or because it is not convenient. How can we motivate, make sustainable consumption more trendy and bring innovative solutions successfully to market to reduce the carbon footprint of our consumption?

Challenge 2: From animal to plant based proteins
Compared to plant-based nutrition, the consumption of animal protein is related to resource losses due to the biomass transfer to a higher trophic level. Through the substitution of animal proteins with plant-based proteins, the nutrient supply can be increased. Among others, local urban agriculture can facilitate the plant-based nutrition.

Challenge 3: Power to the (neighbor)hood!

How can a bottom up movement from the tenants, support to reach Net Zero in their living, building and outdoor spaces. (Keywords: Heating systems, green spaces, governmental support, neighborhood support networks etc.)
