Inclusive Pages: A Book Club for Stories Beyond Mainstream Literature

Inclusive Pages: A Book Club for Stories Beyond Mainstream Literature

"Inclusive Pages" is a book club for a diverse group of individuals who are passionate about exploring literature from under-represented cultures. Meet people from different backgrounds, ages, and experiences, who share a common interest in reading books that offer a fresh perspective and shed light on the lives and experiences of people from marginalized communities.

The books chosen are written by authors from various minority groups, including but not limited to people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and those from non-Western cultures. Jointly, we choose books that are not traditionally included in mainstream literary canons, in order to broaden members' perspectives and challenge preconceived notions.

"Inclusive Pages" meets once a month to discuss a selected book. Our meetings are a mix of casual conversation and more structured discussion. You are encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings, and opinions on the book, and to bring your unique perspectives to the table. We may discuss themes, characters, and the writing style, as well as broader issues such as cultural representation, social justice, and equity. Overall, "Inclusive Pages" aims to create a safe and welcoming space for individuals to explore literature from a diverse range of perspectives, while also fostering a sense of community and solidarity among members.

What to read for this meeting...

We are just starting out with "Inclusive Pages"! Are you keen to be one of the first to join the book club? Then bring an inclusive book and share your thoughts about it with the group. Let us know, why you relate to it, what you find interesting about it, and what you have learned from it. Together we will then decide which of the books we want to read and discuss further for the next meeting.
