Community Co-Budgeting 2020 – Selected projects

After the successful first edition of the Community Co-Budgeting in 2019, we decided to allocate again CHF 10'000 into projects that serve the Impact Hub Zürich community. At the virtual Summer Townhall, the best 4 ideas were selected by the attending community members:

Solar Sauna by Urs Riggenbach

"We just recently completed development of a new solar application in the wellness space: A solar-powered sauna! Now it's time to bring this sauna to new places and how cool would it be to install it at Impact Hub for an amazing day of sun, sauna and swimming? Remember, the sauna is self-sterilizing and we can create a corona safety concept to make it safe. Afterwards, we can jump into the cold Limmat.
The money will be used to build a larger solar collector (current sauna is powered by model 4 but really model 7 is needed), and the logistics costs of." getting the sauna to places. More info on youtube and here: https://lytefiresauna.com."

Lunch Lottery by Christ Shuttleworth

"My idea is to promote our value "We Connect" by running a 'lunch lottery' which will randomly pair members together to have lunch together thereby promoting connections within the membership. Participation is opt-in and participants would also be able to indicate preferences: meet new members, meet people who have experience with a specific topic, etc. Once paired, the members are responsible for setting the date, location, and covering the cost of their lunch. New members will benefit from meeting existing members, existing members will get connections with others who have experience to share, or just enjoy the experience of meeting someone you might not otherwise have a chance to connect with. Success would be measured through a survey of the participants."

Social Muscle Club by Björn Müller

"How about a SOCIAL MUSCLE CLUB event for the IHZ community? After two successful pilots we would love to create a real community fest: the SMC is like the mixture of a sexy salad event and a chaotic gameshow, just that everyone gives and receives presents! A promised way to strengthen community and create serendipity beyond imagination while having a lot of fun."

Educate Yourself by Johanna Seeliger

"If you google "how can I support the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement" you will read EDUCATE YOURSELF. This is exactly what I want us to do. I will give 100 CHF to each person who is willing to educate herself (e.g. by reading a book) and share what she has learnt (e.g. in a blog post). We will also organize an event (e.g. sexy salad) to share our learnings with the rest of the community."

The four community projects have now time until the next Townhall, taking place mid-December, to implement their ideas and to present first achievements.
