Rex is a Chemical Engineer and currently a freelance sustainability consultant. He taught engineering sciences at the University of the Philippines, after which he moved to Japan for graduate studies in the University of Tokyo. He graduated with a Masters in nuclear engineering, then worked in the clean energy sector in several reputable Japanese companies for more than seven years, overseeing projects in Kenya, Ethiopia, Mongolia, and around Southeast Asia.

His intermittent trips to Switzerland for courses, and an exchange at the ETH brought him closer to this small country in the Alps. In 2015 he relocated here and has since been perfecting his German. Rex trains and teaches martial arts in his free time.
