What is Climathon Zurich 2024? 🌍

Climathon Zurich is Impact Hub Zurich’s largest annual climate event, taking place on November 1st & 2nd 2024 at Kraftwerk Zurich. Organised by Impact Hub Zurich in close collaboration with the City of Zurich, and supported by Climate-KIC, Google, Patagonia, and other partners, this 32-hour hackathon brings together a diverse community of students, professionals, scientists, policy-makers, and creative thinkers—all united by a shared passion for climate action. This is your chance to make a tangible impact on Zurich's journey towards net zero!

This Year’s Challenges: Your Mission to Drive Change 🚀

We are excited to present four compelling challenges for this year’s Climathon, each designed to inspire creative solutions and drive meaningful impact:

Presented by Stadt Zürich:

1. Culture of Change: How can culture and art inspire climate action?
   The challenge is to use creative expressions to raise awareness, promote behavioural changes, and foster a collective commitment to sustainability.
2. Flying Less? Easy! How do we turn land-based travel into the new normal?
   The challenge is to develop innovative solutions that make land-based travel more attractive, sustainable, and practical, ultimately encouraging a shift away from flying.
3. Keep Cool: How can we empower Zurich's citizens to adapt to increasing extreme heat?
   This challenge invites participants to develop innovative, citizen-focused solutions that help Zurich's residents respond and adapt to extreme heat.

4.  Employees for Change: How can we empower employees to drive impactful sustainability initiatives within their companies?
   The mission is to generate ideas that inspire and empower employees to take the lead in driving sustainability efforts within their organisations.

Prizes and Support Await the Best Projects! 🏆

At the end of the Climathon Zurich, the most promising projects will have the opportunity to win a share of CHF 40,000 in prize money provided by the City of Zurich. But that’s not all—the winning teams will also receive additional support for implementation from key partners like Patagonia, Google, Climate-KIC, Innovation Booster Programs and Impact Hub Zurich itself. It’s a fantastic opportunity to turn your ideas into reality!
